DAILY - Q & A: Ask the expert

Getting the most out of the daily section of your planner

December 4, 2022

You may have a definition of or a judgement about what makes someone an expert. This is a skill we all rely on so we can get help when we are out of our depth. We often underestimate our own abilities by never laying it all out on the line. We have thoughts that are frantic or scattered about a problem. Yet, instead of figuring out where the line is, we cycle in negative delusions. “It’s too much. It’s too complicated. I can’t figure it out. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know enough. I don’t want to do it now. I don’t have the time or energy. I’ll do that part later.”

This is the way we stay stuck, quit learning and stop feeling the joy of living.

The truth is we are powerful beings, filled with lots of useless and useful information. It’s often difficult to move forward when we make a habit of not seeking the truth.

So every day I give myself space to ask myself the questions that are on my mind. Sometimes they are deep questions, but mostly they are questions about what I need to get done that day or in the near future. I might ask how I can build a better morning routine and then write whatever comes to mind or whatever information I find. Then I have a wealth of knowledge about where I stand on the questions that are standing in my way. It’s easier to see what kind of expert I’m becoming.
