The Beginning of A Very Good Plan
There is something about childhood and adolescence that makes planning come naturally. It's called imagination. We make sentence sandwiches with the words “when I grow up”.
- What do I want to be when I grow up?
- Where do I want to go when I grow up?
- When I grow up things will be so interesting and fun and free.
Now, as a grown up, I’ve accomplished many things that were important to me. But when I looked at where I wanted to go next, I was very confused. I saw how a lot of the decisions I made in the past turned out fine, but were made in very strange circumstances. Those methods didn’t seem as helpful anymore. I also didn’t know how to feel confidence about what I wanted now or who I really was.
So, I did what any overachiever might do, I bought a planner. I bought a few different ones and tried them. It didn’t take long before I realized that none of them were my home base. They didn’t have the right spaces or the kind of path I wanted to walk.
I sat down and drew out all the ideas I had. I made versions that had things it turned out I didn’t need (hello habit tracker). Then I got down to business about what could work if I could be consistent. As a recovering perfectionist and owner of the best imposter syndrome, I created a place for life. The insides and the outsides. This planner was a way to make the best of my inside world real and the worst of what I was making of the outside world back into clarity.
I made a very good plan for anyone who wants to believe in themselves and their mission again. If you’re someone who wants to learn about yourself and the genius of how your mind can work with a day, a week or many months — get our first product, the 3-month daily planner.
